Great Games You Can Play With One Hand

May 12, 2026 · Marek Novak

One-handed play is underrated. On a crowded train or with a coffee in the other hand, you want a game that doesn't demand two thumbs and full attention.

Casual sims like Big Bass Boat nail this — a single tap does most of the work. Many tower defence games qualify too, since placing towers and speeding up waves are all single-touch actions.

What to avoid: twitchy platformers and anything with virtual joysticks. Those need both hands and a table to lean on. Turn-based games are your friend here.

The trick is looking for pause-friendly design. If a game punishes you for stepping away, it's not really a one-handed phone game, no matter what the controls suggest.
